TREASURE CHEST  ....... The Day Staff Writer

William Fortune of Narragansett, R.I., left, and Karl Thayer of Griswold look over a box that was owned by magician and puppeteer Albert Walker, from the Hartford area, in the mid-19th century. The box was filled with the puppets in the foreground along with magic tricks and show handbills. The box and all of its contents were auctioned by J. Pearson Antiques at the VFW hall in Stonington on Saturday and sold for a winning bid of $38,000 to the Connecticut Historical Society.
